Initial CP Configuration

The ISL Conference Proxy administration is performed with the ISL Conference Proxy administration web interface, which is accessible on the link http://localhost:7615/conf.

The administrator uses the standard username and password for the first log-in:

username: admin
password: asd

The system will push you a link to access the Basic configuration. Please follow the link. Basic configuration can also be accessed from the Configuration menu on the left:

Error Info

If the system perceives there is a missing Conference proxy license, it will display a text in red (se the picture above) informing you of the error:

Module ISL Conference Proxy is not licensed

In versions 3.0.0 and earlier the error text also says:

  • Module ISL Light is not licensed.
  • Module ISL pronto is not licensed.

Please note: The ISL Conference Proxy needs a license and will keep refusing to operate if the license is not installed. The error messages should go away after you have successfully completed the Add licenses procedure.

The Basic configuration includes the most common settings, which must be configured in order the ISL Conference Proxy to operate properly. Although all the basic settings can also be configured separately in their specific submenus, we recommend that new users make use of the Basic configuration submenu, where all the basic settings are gathered in one place:

Administrator password

This password is used to log into the ISL Conference Proxy administration web services. As already mentioned in the beginning of this section, the standard username is "admin" and the password "asd". Meanwhile the username cannot be altered, you are strongly advised to change the administrator log-in password after the initial installation. The password can be changed in the Basic configuration / Administrator password.

Please note: administrator account cannot be used for the ISL Light Web Console log-in. You need to create a regular user account at the Web Console.

E-mail notifications

The ISL Conference Proxy can be configured to send status information on the ISL Light system via e-mail. You are strongly advised to fill in the fields properly. In case of a critical event, the system will then notify you and enable you to take proper actions.

  • Outgoing (SMTP) server: set this to your company's mail server. You might need to open the port 25 in your firewall for the ISL Conference Proxy server. Also, if the administrator mail account is not local to the mail server, you might need to enable mail relaying for the ISL Conference Proxy server.
  • Default from e-mail address: set this field to the administrator email address or any other system e-mail address. This e-mail address does not need to be valid, but make sure that the email address's domain name does exist. If the email address's domain name does not exist, the ISL Conference Proxy might not be able to send e-mail notifications.
  • System e-mail goes to: set this to the administrator e-mail address. You can enter in multiple addresses, but separate them with a comma. The provided e-mail addresses must be valid.

By clicking on a "Save and send test e-mail" the settings will be saved and a test e-mail will be sent to the system e-mail address/es. By this you can verify if the setup is working properly.

Licenses

The ISL Conference Proxy needs a valid license file in order to operate properly. If you do not install a license, the ISL Light Client and the ISL Light Desk will not be able to use the remote desktop support services. Here you will find a link to the "Add licenses" page, where you will be able to upload the license files. Make sure that at least "ISL CONFERENCE PROXY" is listed in the list of licensed modules. If you want to use ISL Light, the corresponding module name (ISL LIGHT) must be listed as well.

Go to the Basic configuration and select Licenses to view your licenses:

View licenses. By clicking on the View licenses link, the Licenses page opens. Initially, this page is empty. Only when you have uploaded licenses, the page will show a list of the licenses.

After adding the license, the following information is shown:

Add licenses. Clicking the Add licenses link, it starts a form for uploading an additional license. ISL Light requires only the Upload license file for ISL CONFERENCE PROXY which is absolutely necessary. In order to add it, you should first download the license file from the Web Console. To upload a license, please enter its full path and the file name or press the "Browse" button to choose the right file:

After the license is uploaded, the Conference proxy server should be restarted by pressing the "Restart server" button. You will get a message on restarting a server:

"Server is restarting. It might take a while for server to start again, especially if you have requested an upgrade." By clicking then on the "Return to session" link, you can check whether the server has already restarted. If the restart was successful, the ISL Conference Proxy Administration log-in window should appear. If not, please click the "Return to session" link again after a few seconds.

If you check again the Licenses / View licenses, the page will be updated with information on the newly uploaded license.

Plug-ins

Some plug-ins are required if the ISL Light Client to operate properly. If you do not install the plugins, the ISL Light Client users will be receiving errors like "Plugin is not licensed". The simplest way to avoid any troubles in using the software is to install all the required plug-ins your license includes. There is no need to worry about the plug-ins, which your license does not include. These unrequired plug-ins will be ignored by the ISL Light Client software as they will not even be downloaded and will not waste the bandwidth.

Version 3.0.1 and later:

Select the Updates in the menu on the left:

Then click on the "Install all (recommended)" at the bottom of the Plugins page:

Although the system recommends you a list of plug-ins, you can install only some selected Plugins components. For example, wanting to install only the Audio Plugins for the ISL Light software, tick the corresponding boxes and then press the "Apply changes" button. Please wait for the update to be finished:

When the plug-ins have already been installed on your server, the system asks you if you want to hide the installed plug-ins in the list of the recommended plug-ins. If you tick the "Hide installed" box and press the "Refresh" button,

the installed Audio components will not be shown in the recommended plug-ins list anymore:

The Updates panel can also be used for acquiring other information on the ISL Conference Proxy's current status. By  ticking various combination of boxes and pressing the "Refresh" button you can obtain extensive information on the ISL Conference Proxy, its modules and the ISL Light Desk / ISL Light Client user interface Plug-ins.

Web server public address

  • This section needs to be configured only if you intend to use live chat solution - ISL Pronto. The ISL Pronto service must know its own publicly visible DNS name. There is one technical limitation that you must be aware of - a usual DNS A or AAAA entry which resolves a single name to an IP is not enough. A wildcard A or AAAA entry is required, like: *.confproxy.domain.com -> 122.33.28.211. ISL Pronto will use names in a form of pronto-serverID-randomstring.confproxy.domain.com. Some examples:
    • pronto--1-nfbhaxx.confproxy.domain.com
    • pronto-4-ngfhdh.confproxy.domain.com
    • All these addresses must resolve to the ISL Conference Proxy public IP.
  • The serverID section of the name can be set manually to a specific value for the current server.
  • When you click "Save and test resolving", a test on the ISL Conference Proxy configuration is performed. If the test passes successfully, you will get a reply like this:
    • pronto-2-bcxnsprdxs.confproxy.domain.com was resolved to 122.33.28.211
    • where 122.33.28.211 is the IP of your ISL Conference Proxy.
Users

Only you as an administrator have the right to access the ISL Conference Proxy administration web services. Using these services you can also add multiple users to your account, who will be able to use the ISL Light Desk application and support your clients remotely. In order to enable other users to start using the ISL Light remote desktop services, you need to configure user accounts properly.

Each ISL Light user in your company must belong to a domain. In case you do not wish to divide ISL Light users into separate groups, you can use the already provided domain called "default". Select View domains in the menu:

Then click on the "default":

It opens an interface where you can configure the "default" domain:

To create a new user, click on Create user. You need to choose a username and a password for the new user and press the "Create" button:

Note: if you leave the password field blank, the user will not be able to log in and use the ISL Light services.

For more information on user administration, please see the section on Managing CP Users.
